Everyone probably already knows about this, but some evil random funny is here at the Fatal Farm. Duck Tales and Alf and Knight Rider and Golden Girls and... all of them are recommended.
From Quantic Dream who made Indigo Prophecy/Fahrenheit (in Europe where it's not bad to be associated with a Michael Moore flick) and Omnikron the Nomad Soul which featured David Bowie and his hot one-name-only wife as virtual actors. Can mo-cap dog replace cats of any sort? Prolly not.
some movie is being made called '9' with Frodo and Crispin Glover. It's based on this short cartoon:
by shane acker, who will be directing the full length. Post apocalyptic rag dolls and eerie green lights. However, if yr brave, watch an earlier cartoon he did after the jump, which is very difficult to viddy
[adult swim] made a video for El-P's Flyentology song, which features Trent Reznor, the guy who likes to mow his lawn in N'orleans. new el-p LP has tvotr and someover odd guest stars as well. i think it samples harry nilsson's the point as well which is a bit odd.
They also have a bunch of tracks to download from other def jux guys. I'm not big into rap.hop.hip but I dig this. New Can ox this year please? Oh, the above stuff is all here.
reznor pre nose job.
The Mouse and His Child
I love kids' movies. Especially when tehy don't speak down to kids and are spirnkled with little bits of evil. Even when they don't have unicorns. Speaking of that, I just got real high quality versions of two Unico movies, Sam.
The animation is by Sanrio of herro kitty fame, but it's animated in a traditional 'western' style. The opening theme song is freaky. The ordeals are sad. And the turtle explaing infinity and The Last Visible dog is borderline pyscedelic. It's based on a book of the same title that some math teachers note as a good book to get kids into math.... I dunno.
Sam, can I get a cover of the title song?
I've been looking for this for awhile. It's a pin screen animation from the 30s and possible one of the best music videos I've ever seen. More info on pinscreen animation and this peice here.
Apparently Weird Al is having the most amazing animators ever illustrate all the videos for his new album, "Straight Outta Linwood." The video for "Close but No Cigar" is animated with disgustingly sexy vigor by John Kricfalusi, the creator of Ren and Stimpy! I haven't really kept up with John K's work over the years, but judging by this video he has spent his post-Nickelodeon days getting even more awesome! See below.

The previously posted about site DailyEpisodes.com has been shut down by Fox's cyber goons! I don't know much about internet law, but a site that simply aggregates and streams from another site doesn't seem like a worthy target for the Foxhounds. Thus if you want to see cartoons as free as they were on broadcast, I guess you'll have to download them by getting this, and going here. Thanks Mr. Murdoch! (Image via Orange Lazarus)

you can read more of robert sergal's comics at http://www.idiotcomics.com/ and http://www.robertsergel.com/indexx.html
A few years ago Hellboy creator and all around badass artist Mike Mignola put out a one-shot called The Amazing Screw-on Head. The comic had nothing to do with Hellboy, it was just a stand alone story about a guy-robot-head-thing that screwed into various bodies to combat the paranormal at the bidding of Abraham Lincoln and the American Way. But instead of being played for weird thrills, it was a comedy book. This weird little comic never promised a sequel, wasn't ever reprinted and never made the slightest attempt to explain itself. It was what the magazine format of comics should be used for all the time. But anyway, they made a fucking cartoon out of it. With Patton Oswalt writing, and Paul Giamatti doing the voice of Screw-on Head. And the animation is unbelivable. While its not the smoothest in the world, it looks like Mike Mignola drew the thing himself. And its free on the net. I've said enough, just click here and watch the thing. Then vote for more episodes (I know nobody watches the Sci-Fi channel, but we can hope for DVD's down the line).

Venture Bros. Season 2 started up. Choice quotes "are you raping me?" and "Her name is Skye. We're going to have a child." Later on, a rotund ex-henchman at a henchmen support group is found to be wearing a shirt proclaiming porkchop sandwiches. I was reminded of one of the funnier Fensler GI Joe PSAs, straight from the youtube teet for you mothers and sisters and fathers and sons. (didn't take me long to go full circle on that inner meme... wonder if that Voxtrot album ever came out.) Not sure if this is a 1 for 1 nod SLASH tilt of the hat, as legend has it that people have eaten porkchop sandwiches sometime after the mammoth went extinct.
Anyone ever see that episode of Northern Exposure were they thaw a preserved wooly mammoth and chow down on it? I don't think I'd eat extinct animals, however. Oh, I miss thee PLiF
One of the animations I did for work is on the internet! In fact, it's been there for months, but I sure wasn't informed. If you want to see it and you don't mind a little ever-loading flash, then go Here, then click on What's New, then click on Bb. Shine and Hair Powder, then click on Explore, then click on the picture farthest to the left. Now, it's certainly not my best animation, and don't ask me why the other three videos are actual video and the first is animation (consistancy?), but look at me mom, I'm famous!

Karen's tatto post got me thinking about the fine art of tattoing and its connection to the "lowbrow" art world. So in that spirt I have assembled some of my favorite low brow artists, some of whom are tattoo artists themselves. I would be proud to wear any of these guys art on my skin...
NOTE: There are some depictions of nudity and sexuality after the link so....you should probably look at them.
I'm lying about the babies.

Fellow Blogger Dylan and I took a trip to the Museum of the Moving Image in Queens this weekend, and it's totally the kind of place that makes you excited to have kids, so you can take them there and watch their little faces aglow with delight. I'll admit, Dylan and I are both video nerds, but there's a ton of fun interactive stuff to play with if you're not into looking at old cameras and archaic editing equipment. I'd like to especially suggest the make-your-own-10-second-stopmotion tables. And once you're done walking through the top two floors, spend the rest of the day on the first floor, playing old and new arcade games, including Tron, Katamari Damacy, Space Invaders, Donkey Konga and Flow, which is like the hiphop version of Dance Dance Revolution. Plus, there are old movies screening throughout the day, and a movie ticket is included in the price of admission. If you have your old student i.d. (you trickster you) it's only $7.50 to get in, which means $7.50 to see an old flick and then play unlimited video games till closing. ($10 without i.d.) I think I may have found my new hangout.
Coming up next weekend (starting Friday, March 17th), they begin screening the "Fist and Sword: Martial Arts Classics" series. Seems like a good weekend to go.

Sometimes in life it's hard to keep your eyes open. You walk in small concentric circles starring at your feet, and wonder why everything looks the same. You ball your fists into your eyes and say "but I can't see anything inspiring". Its time to quit being such a baby. Pry those little fists away, blink, and look up. Its time for an ART KICK! This means it's time to go look at other peoples art. Really look at it. Get jealous. Get excited. Here are some good places to start your ART KICK IN THE FACE!

It's nice to finally have some time to just hang at home. I am a freelance editor/animator/general random film crap guy. Lately I spend most of time working with a stop motion animation director by the name of PES, www.eatpes.com, which so far has been an awesome experiance. I spent this last week on the set of a Nutri-Grain commercial production. It was the funnest of all the on set experiances I have had so far. But even so, the days were long, and it's nice to have a chance to chill out. My friend Jim is back in town after having been in Scotland for almost a year. Plans tonight include drinking alot of Scotch and playing a game called pressumo. This game was made up by a Scottish band called the Delgados ( who have since broke up apparantly), involes two combatants, both in push up position, trying to knock the other one down by pulling their opponents hand out from under them without falling down themselves. I can't wait.
Cropped, de-interlaced xvid trailer for Tales from Earthsea from Ghibli. Sure to be better than the asstastic Sci-Fi miniseries from while back. Even without Isabella Rossellini. Read more for some quick pics. Trailer Get! 36 Megs.
