Really really. I used a pattern, knitted the body, and then you felt it in the washing machine, stuff it and shape it. The body is wool so it felts well, and the furry part is "eyelash yarn" (aka fun fur). I actually did all of that in August while visiting grandma, so Nat wouldn't see it. I felted the eyes and nose on by hand later.
Sort of. Felting is the process by which things get fuzzy like that. When you machine felt, you knit the object first to give it shape, and you're relying on the hot water and the agitation of the washing machine to move the fibers all around. The final felted result is smaller, denser, and more solid than what you started with. You can also felt by hand using little barbed needles that pull the fibers of the wool across one another; when you hand felt, you don't need to knit first, because you are giving it shape as you go. You're talking here a lot about felting, but I have no idea what that is or how it works.
I know what felt is, it's the fuzzy stuff that goes on the bottom of nondisposable drink coasters. Is it the same thing?
