the shock doctrine

So there's a book out there called The Shock Doctrine: The Rise of Disaster Capitalism written by a saucy 37 year old Canadian. She teamed up with Alfonso Cuarón who did Children of Men to make this little filmy, directed and edited by Cuaron's son, Jonas.

I find this very powerful at the same time someone ironic even if it is true. It starts out being very shocking and then begins to tell you all about this idea and why it's bad. While maintaining that sense of shock.

I agree with Nate. Naomi and Cuaron scare the b'jesus out of the viewer, leaving him or her in a state of shock, then suggest buying her book. The left uses fear to sell ideas just as much as the right.
