Nintendo World

Did you guys know that New York City houses a Nintendo World? (I don't recommend this link...their site is infuriating). But wow, the store is fun. It's big and bright and looks like it's from the future. But more importantly, there are video games to play with everywhere you turn! They had about 30 DSs and GBAs scattered about, and a bunch of game cube setups on the second floor. Children were running around like headless chickens. Liam and I were by far the largest people there (besides the parents, who were NOT having fun). One inspiring conversation was overheard, a young boy telling his nanny that he felt guilty making his mom buy him a DS, a game, AND a case. Good for him, he should feel bad. The cost of that fun bundle could save like 500 African kids. The Nanny just told him not to feel bad.

I wish I was still a kid.

Unfortunately, while it's very easy to spend hours there playing games, they don't have a very good selection of games to buy. A pretty poor selection, in fact. There was a huge selection of mario mushroom t-shirts and stuffed animal Koopas. But they erased all memory I had of wanting to buy games when I became entranced with the two enormous screens playing the Wii commerical on a loop. I couldn't look away. Those japanese kids playing Warioware Touched in slo mo and giggling and having the best time of their lives hypnotized me. I mean, Touched for the Wii??! It's genius!

There was a little history of nintendo section with lots of cool retro nintendo systems, plus this game boy that went with a soldier to the Gulf War and subsequently melted (and it still works! Oh Nintendo, is there anything you can't do?)

I don't know what's going on with my hair here, but I can assure you, I don't like it.

Anyway, Nintendo World is a good place to be the largest person sitting in the tiny chairs around the tiny table testing out DS games.
