Just a long rant about liking Wikipedia

When I was on the Grave of the Fireflies page in Wikipedia, I saw that in the See Also section, it linked to the Greatest Movies of All Time list (because Roger Ebert considered it one of the greatest war movies of all time). From there I linked to the worst movies of all time list which includes a list of movies disowned by their makers. That's gotta sting. The list includes such gems as Caligula, where the screenwriters sued to have their names taken off the credits (as the movie originally was to be a morality tale but was completely changed by re-writes, re-shoots and re-edits.) Malcom McDowell (my first movie star crush, incidentally) and his female costar publically apologized for the film.

Hally Berry accepted her Golden Raspberry Awardfor Catwoman in person, saying, "First of all, I want to thank Warner Brothers. Thank you for putting me in this piece of shit, God-awful movie... It's just what my career needed." What a trooper. Linking the the Golden Raspberry Awards, I discovered that Tom Green won five Razzies for Freddy got Fingered. He showed up to the awards in a white Cadillac, bringing his own length of cheap red carpet. Green's speech included a never-ending piece of music played on the harmonica, for which he eventually had to be dragged off stage by the organizers."I want to say I didn't deserve this... dear god, I want to say that." God, he's annoying.

Wikipedia helps me waste many an otherwise tiresome hour of life. You can just link and link and link forever. Has anyone else read the New Yorker article on Wikipedia? Yeah, it's great. I was going to try and paraphrase it here, but I don't think I will. Once I created a fake wikipedia entry about myself, stating that I was internationally known for killing the last living Narwhal and launching the species into extinction. The article was pulled in 2.5 days (reason sited: nonsense). I was impressed with the speed in which they responded. Wikipedia has a bunch of sister projects as well, including Wikispecies, a directory of species, Wikibooks, a collection of free textbooks and manuals (featuring such gems as The Movie Making Manual, the Muggles Guide to Harry Potter, and the Teaching Assistant in France Survival Guide) and Wikiquote, a collection of quotes. (Today's Quote of the Day: "Education, for most people, means trying to lead the child to resemble the typical adult of his society... But for me, education means making creators... You have to make inventors, innovators, not conformists." ~ Jean Piaget")

Okay, I think that's about all I've got. I'm patently Brain Dead today (My Brain Age was an embarrassing 39 this morning. Why come sometimes yer thinking noodle's workin sorta good like, and sometimes yer done did stupid?) mm, I probably shouldn't publish this if I want to be respected by my peers....
