DS games? Suggestions?

| | Comments (3)

I'm doing it! Despite desperately trying to save money and continually telling myself, "okay, me, you're in money-saving mode officially now, so no buying things", and despite telling all my friends at work that I'm not spending any money this week, and suffering on flattened peanut butter and jellys for the past 3 weeks instead of buying lunch like everyone else, yes, despite all this, I'm buying a Nintendo DS. I'm doing it today...in the heat wave, I'm walking a good 25 minutes each way, and I'm getting it. Getting it good. And I'm getting Brain Age. Although anyone played Big Brain Academy? I've read good things about it.
But I want another game too, and I need advice. What's a good one? Something like Star Fox DS or New Super Mario Bros. You know, something where I'm a little guy going through levels. Tetris DS perhaps? Or maybe something just totally weird like Cooking Mama. What about Nintendogs, it seems so lame? Something I can enjoy for many hours alone while my PS2 has been taken hostage at the Jug. Any and all suggestions will be lovingly considered and humbly appreciated.

Steve has a whole slew of Japanese games I can quasi-translate for you. Includes "Cooking Mama," a sweet game in which you learn to cook Japanese food, including carrots, rice, and unidentifiable but delicious (I vouch!) meat-wrap things. Probably best use of blender in a game since, I dunno, Mario Speedwagon: Rock-Roll Martini Challenge '95 (Konami, never widely released).

NSMB is sex. World 7 is amazing and worth finding the entrance to.

Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrows is amazing but really hard to find. expect to pay over retail for a used copy. A large castle to explore, lots of powers to get, and 3 well hidden monsters to find. Sam: Better than SotN.

Rub Rabbits bizarre minigames. Easily beaten but lots of fun, great music, it and it's sequel are usually cheap. Bonus: sequals title in japan was: Where Do Babies Come From? ew.

Mario 64 Weird control.

I never played cooking mama but have played its ps1 predasesor. Funish, but perhaps more novelty.

Kirby game ALL stylus. Hard, franctic. Maybe fun?

Trauma Center is hilarious but also hard to find. Medical game.

Do you have WiFi? Super Mario Kart DS is a lot of fun on and offline (damn the snakers)

Metroid Prime Hunters, online as well, isn't for everyone but is technical marvel.

Electroplankton is online only, a multimedia toy (non game) made by artist Toshio Iwai. Lot's of fun. Japanese version comes with headphones.

Jump Superstars is great for the 12 year old dragon ball z enthuist locked inside of you.

Super Princess PEach sexist you fun. really easy. crying is a special power. not as good as nsmb.

avoid: Deep Labyrinth, Lost Magic, anything liscensed

important IF you get your ps2 back - Ico and Shadow of the Colossus.
