Sam's track reviews today points to Echo & the Bunnymen cover of It's All Over Now, Baby Blue and I just had to step in with this little tid bit...

Damon + Naomi with Ghost "It's All Over Now, Baby Blue(Live)"

Damon and Naomi were arguably the better 2/3rds of Galaxie 500, and G500 is easily one of the better things to come out of Boston. Now they make hit'n'miss folk songs. Ghost is some Japan psche rock band that Wire puts on their covers sometimes. (Two core members represent here, while Ghost and D+N did a full album later on.) The song is live and acoustic-y, and I think touches upon a sense of a subtle sort of sad that sometimes can only come accross in a reinterpretation, something too eternally base to apply to yourself or own work. This is the stations of the cross right here. And I really don't like Dylan.

Also, the production is pure punk rock; it was released on 7" vinyl, the b-side is a throw away and the artwork is DIY - Naomi does all the cover design.

Sam, give it a listen. According to my itunes playcount, I've listened to this song way too much. Also, permalink entries of yr track reviews f's up the mp3 links.

Any idea how to link to the mp3s, or where to put them so they can be accesible through all portals (archive, main page, music section etc)?
